XC60 Towing Plug Pins

I am awaiting delivery from the factory. The tow bar is being factory fitted.
I asked the dealer about pins 9+13 and 10+11 but he didn't seem to know very much.
Can anyone say if pin 9 is switched on when the caravan is plugged in, and engine stopped, then switched of, when engine still stopped, or is it of until the engine is started.
I understand pin 10 is switched.

On mine which is Volvo electrics as soon as you plug the 13 pin plug the ATC is activated and the little green/ red light on the A frame comes on.

Assuming that this is powered by pin 9 then the answer to your question is yes.
If I attach the caravan at night for an early start or over night on a ferry I will disconnect the plug just in case the battery is drained.

Thanks for your reply.

Following from the XC60 manual:-

When the engine is switched off, the constant battery voltage to the trailer connector can be switched off automatically so as
not to drain the starter battery.

My present tow bar switches on pin9 when the van is plugged in.
I'll have to check in settings, when I get the car.
There is also an automatic trailer lamp check system.

Recently taken delivery of Volvo number 4 .... all of them have had Volvo brackets fitted ... all have been used with caravans with ATC.

On the first two ATC fired up when the socket was plugged in as I was used to one previous cars. However on my 2018 XC60 it didn't always do this if the car had been left for a while .... lift the boot and it would spring into life ... it was like the towing electrics went to sleep if that makes sense.

Will be interested to see how my new 2020 XC60 reacts as and when I can take to the road again.
