Wanted: Volvo 244
 

Hi all,

New on here and only recently developed my love for Volvos. Always admired the Volvo 940 estate as my neighbour has one but never really entered my head to buy a Volvo. Recently I was at a show in Norway and there was a crazy amount of Volvos and that is what really triggered my love for them. What they can do to them out there is crazy, Scania turbos and what not. That isn't what I want though, I am looking for a round headlight Volvo 244 or similar. Manual preferably but will consider anything. Also pre 1980 is a big plus. Please let me know if there is anything available as I am genuinely looking for one. I will also be in England next weekend if anything did come up that soon I would be able to go and view it. Also any advice on what to look out for when looking about buying one, common faults etc., would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently rescued a 1981 MY 244DL in black (very unusual as special order only). It is a flathood car with the later lights on the front but the earlier 5 panel lights on the rear. There is some work to do in the way of rust although nothing serious. My plan is to deal with the rust/paint and then let someone else take it over as a good running tidy usable car with only about 110k on the clock, and its a manual. I will ironically have the option to backdate the front end with older wings/ lights etc... if that is what you wanted but I think that would be a shame in some ways as this is quite an unusual car these days

Seen that car alright. Looks like a gem. Not really what I am after, wouldn't mind a bit rough around the edges as I do enjoy a bit of tidying up too. Seems like a very special car and I don't think I would appreciate it as much as a long time Volvo enthusiast would but thank you for your help.

There was a yellow 244 estate in yellow on Donedeal.ie but the advert has now gone. Wondering did you buy it when I saw your location?

Was going to have a look at it myself but was too slow with one thing and another.

Seen that alright, looked a good one. No I didn't buy it as I've my heart set on a saloon so hopefully what I'm after will come up soon enough
