Slave cylinder- voiding warranty on flywheel and clutch

Hi
I had the clutch and dual mass flywheel replaced in August 21. Clutch went and garage advised to do dual mass flywheel.

Just before Xmas slave cylinder went.

The garage have called today to say that the slave cylinder has caused damage so need to replace the clutch and flywheel again. They say the parts are not under warranty as the providers say that the damage is caused by slave cylinder- therefore their parts are not defective and not covered.

Garage says they are arguing with parts provider and waiting for decision. It will take 30 days so they recommend paying and if appeal is successful they will refund. Otherwise car sits as is (half done).

Is this correct? RAC mechanic said they should have replaced slave cylinder when they did clutch and flywheel but I don’t know

Anyone here know where I stand? It is a C30 November 2009 with about 105000 miles

In my view the slave is always part of the clutch job, just like water pump with cambelt. Don't see why they would push for dmf replacement, the only part that is contaminated with brake fluid is the clutch that has obsorbed the fluid. I would replace just slave and clutch without dmf or pressure plate just clean them with cleaner to remove any trace of the brake fluid.

Agreed, in my limited knowledge, the slave should've been done with the rest of it. It's like only doing one brake disc, or one fork seal on a motorbike, yo don't, you always do them both.

I hope you didn't have it done by Mr Clutch, because the clowns who work there probably put the whole back together wrong in the first place, leaving you up poo creek.

Mr Clutch will tuck you up quicker than a tory MP on commission.

Sadly that would be consequential damage and no parts manufacturer warranties against that.
