Headlight assembly mounting pins to slam panel

I've recently acquired a front end crash damaged XC90 2011 RDesign. The headlamp plastic mounting pins on the back of each unit were broken in the impact, although the lamps themselves are fully functional. Has anyone any experience of effecting a solution to replace the function of the 2 mounting pins which situate the headlight unit through the slam panel receiving holes.

more research on broken headlight tabs

Volvo UK still can supply the repair bracket that allows the "tent pegs" to be slid down inside the headlight housing and the slam panel

Part No. 31395688

£13 per bracket, but less than the £778 *each* for Active Bi-Xenons

purple circles show broken tabs which I will try and repair using Part No. 31395688 brackets from Volvo, and green circles show intact locator posts

Isn't that for the XC60 which has a different headlight mounting format?

ye it is for xc60

but based on the photos on the thread I think it can be made to work for xc90 as tabs are similar "enough"... we will see...

this fixing kit does not work for XC90 headlights with broken tabs.

my advice if you have broken tabs is to replace the whole unit with 2nd hand units

the bi-xenon active units can be sourced at around 300GBP each, but of course be sure to check that the one you are buying has all 4 tabs intact and also the 3 mounting posts are all intact.

Also on the part label sticker on the unit there is a date which will let you know the age of the unit you are buying
