1991 240 seat belt reminder relay location?????
 

Hi all. I expect this has been asked before, but can someone please tell me the location of the seat belt reminder relay. I've looked behind the dash area from underneath but can only find what I believe to be the overdrive relay held in a metal clip. Thank you :teeth_smile:

Judging from where the clicking appears to come from, I'd say it's about half way up to the left of centre. Either on the rack inside the central console, or behind the moulded plastic footwell cover.

I presume yours isn't working so that's why you can't just follow the sound?
But you could test a likely relay by unplugging it and seeing whether anything stops working?

Isn't it the same one as the indicators?
Mine (a '93) beeped at twice the rate that the indicators "blink" at, but once the indicators are switched on they both beep at the indicator rate.
This is the only reason for my assumption - I've not done any further research.

That's right I think. I realise I knew that without being aware I knew it, if you see what I mean. I noticed it when driving with the belt unplugged - as 230ina245 says, the beeping is at half the indicator rate, but it reverts to normal rate if you use the indicator.

The indicator relay is black, about 3/4" square section, about 1 1/2" long. It's on a length of cable I think meant to be clipped up behind the rack half way up the central console, accessible from the LH panel in the driver's footwell.
But the cable is quite long, so I've sometimes found the indicator relay on the left near the heater valve, over on the left hand side. That's roughly where the noise came from when I checked before my first post.

If you get it clicking using the indicators you can follow the sound. But if the indicators work presumably the relay is OK, so whatever your fault is it's perhaps more likely to be in a seat belt buckle switch, or a pressure switch in the seat base?
