Original Wiper Blades

I got my hands on a set of original (ANCO - stainless with red dot) 140 wiper blades but the rubbers are shot. Has anyone on here replaced the rubbers and what wiper did you use as donors?

These are what I have fitted to my new wipers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390648791994

Thanks for the link, I had seen those earlier but I prefer the look of the originals. I have a pair of black Champion blades on the car they work but just don’t satisfy my OCD.

Does anyone know why Volvo had wind only one blade with the deflector on the left-hand side... even on right hand drive cars?

How do those blades work? They look very similar to the ANCO Vintage wiper blades that I tried. The ANCO vintage stainless blades were only available in 15" with the bayonet style mount. They looked good; but, they were absolute merde when it came to actually wiping water off of the glass. I don't know whether it was because the springs in the blade were too stiff; but, the wiper blade, particularly the passenger side, would ride completely off the glass in the center of the blade.

The point where the bayonet fitting attaches to the arm looks 'minimal' on those blades. Do you get any rocking of the wiper blade as it goes through its motion? I think it is because the wiper arms on the 140 sit so high off the glass they generate a lot of twist on the blade as it goes through its motion. Twice I have had the plastic bayonet adapters on the one size fits all black wiper blades crack and pop out of the blade during use.

Perhaps because of the difference in the curvature of the glass. The wing should increase blade pressure at speed to improve wiping action. However, on my LHD 1971 142 it is the right side that needs help, even at low speed.

My understanding is that even though Sweden was a drive on the left country up to 1967 (date ??) the cars were all built LHD which made the over night left - right switch easier. Since the majority of their production was LHD cars, maybe they were less concerned about drivers who sat on the right hand side. Or perhaps nobody told the guys on the production line to switch the blades when doing an RHD production run. You could try switching the blades to see what happens. Based upon my 140 wiper experience it probably can't make things worse.

Fitted this year to Trico arms. Seem to work totally fine but probably not driven in a downpour either. Will have a gander at the originals.

Ordered some 16" blade rubbers off aliexpress... will see what turns up and how or if they will work.
