Seat switch surround
 

Hello,
Looking for the driver's side seat massage/fan switch surround from a 2011 Exec.
The part number on the inside is 39865795, but when I try and google the part number it doesn't seem to exist.
Photo attached - hopefully.
The surround is arrowed.

FRF responded and say I would have to buy the whole side panel at a cost of £74, rather than the small section I need.

these panels are about £20 but as you have the extra buttons etc much fewer are made so more expensive .. the extra panels are glued in so the part is as one ..

It certainly isn't glued in as one piece on my car.
I require a replacement because the plastic clips holding it in place have broken.
I suppose I could glue it in place instead, couldn't I !!!!! :)

I've got the same spec, same year ('61 reg) car which is why I responded.

I'll have a look at mine tomorrow to see if it's glued or clipped (or both) - just out of interest.

I understand why you would want to fit the correct part but, TBH, gluing it in there would prob be my solution too - I certainly wouldn't want to pay £74 (as against £20) just because there are fewer of that model - stuff that!!

I assume you have tried speaking with breakers etc?

I'll let you know how I get on.

The rocker switch on the top for the seat fan is also clipped in place inside the switch panel, but one of those clips has broken too.
I think it's just the degrading of the somewhat flimsy plastic over time.
Epoxy gluing is probably the way to go, but I'll drop by my dealer tomorrow just on the off-chance they may have a spare.

I finally got around to checking mine - not glued in!

But - I did find, while looking, that the dreaded crack across the top had appeared.

I think this is just a design flaw due to the seat compressing while the driver slides out of the seat to exit the car and the driver's weight is then applied to the plastic surround.

My car is under Selekt warranty but I doubt somehow this will be covered...

Regarding epoxy glue - I used Araldite on my old Saab 9-5 Aero Estate to deal with a similar problem on the passenger electric seat surround and it worked OK for a couple of years but eventually failed again - the glue just seemed to "soften" a bit and released from one of the surfaces.

I suppose what I am saying is that you need to make sure there is a reasonable "key" scratched into the surfaces to be joined to get the glue to hold.

An alternative might be MekPak (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) to actually "weld" the plastics together - but it's dodgy stuff (if you can still get it...)

I used a hot-glue gun to hold the switch inside, and to secure the surround.

I'm trying to be a little more careful when exiting the car, but if it becomes detached again I'll try securing it with epoxy.

I didn't think of that - and Mrs W has a hot glue gun thing too...
