rear numberplate lamp
Just being lazy really (been out welding and grinding on the mini all day and just put away all the tools)
noticed I have one dead numberplate lamp, can somone confirm type please without me having to dig out the torx set and check google searching is giving me conflicting answers also are there any issues swapping with LED? like low voltage warning messages or whatever (I'm guessing not because I didnt get a message to say one was out) I did look on VIDA but didn't find it easily (im sure it's in there somewhere) much appreciated |
No - no issues with led - i fitted the all in one led style rather than led bulb

I bought these for mine, 501 LEDS
https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/50...dge-bulbs.html Just be careful with the holders as mine had been melted by the previous owner's bulbs and they are a bit of a fiddle to replace. |
Numberplate lamps aren't checked by the computer. Only thing to watch for, as Nick mentioned is the heat some of the cheaper LED bulbs give out.

nice one, I might look at all in one's then, I didn't realise that was an option..
will be a toss up between that and LED 501's depending on price I guess, cheers :) the other option that kept coming up was a long thin one like a glass fuse shape, contact at each end, so that was obviously not the right shape then |
Yeah, that "festoon bulb" comes up a lot in parts lists; even lists where the correct W5W is listed. It's odd.

in the end I was looking at LED's then checked for normal ones and saw a pack of two standard halogen ones on amazon, Osram, £2.90 for the pair, free delivery
should last a few years anyway, I'm sure it'll be fine thanks all for confirming correct type anyway it was very helpful |
