Carbon trim on glove box

Hi all,

Hope you can help, the carbon trim on my glove Box trim has come away it seems quite brittle. Is there are a way to stick this back?

I was thinking some gentle heat and the re gluing? If not anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Thanks.

When you say 'has come away' do you mean the carbon fibre has come off the backing plastic, or the entire trim piece is coming off the glovebox lid? If the latter, then it is held in by three torx screws so you may be able to repair the area that the screws bite into, then re-attach? If its the former, then I have no idea how to fix it other than to try some heat as you say - you may have to send it to a carbon fibre specialist for repair.

Used parts come up on ebay very occasionally - might be worth dropping a few breakers an enquiry email to see if they have any on the shelf.

Otherwise you're looking at new and I don't think they're available from dealers any more (but check with FRF) - however Viva Performance in the USA are still listing them - a full carbon fibre trim kit for $250 - https://www.vivaperformance.com/carb...m-s70-v70-c70/

Thanks for the info... it looks to be the glue between the front of the carbon trim and the back which is not ideal. I’ll have closer look when I give it a good going over tomorrow when the rains stopped.

You don't say what your car is, year and model. Did Volvo actually do a true black/grey carbon trim option? My 2000 V70 XT has a sort of green tinted silver with a sort of carbon pattern but I'd never call it carbon trim. Sticky back carbon sheet of various types and colours available on the Bay etc and people commonly use that to cover wood and other finishes. As said the trim comes off easily via 3 screws so recovering it should be simple.
