Dynaudio Woofers old vs new C70
Does anyone know if the dynaudio low-range rear deck speakers (3533795) from a Mk1 C70 will fit in place of the dynaudio low-range door speakers (30679331) on a Mk2 C70?
They both look to be variants of the same 8" speaker - as far as I can tell from photos the only difference seems to be an extra piece of foam on the 30679331, and a different connector? I have a blown 30679331, so I was wondering if I could take a 3533795 and just swap the foam piece / plug over? Has anyone tried this? Because I'm having a lot of problems sourcing the 30679331 at a decent price but there are multiple reasonably priced 3533795 units on eBay... |
Mickey,
Karl is breaking a C70 mk2 with Dynaudio on Facebook. I'm sure he can help you out with the speakers if you need them. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3328...3506632689125/ |

Update:
I decided to go out on a limb and buy a 3533795 on eBay since it was only £39 and the cheapest 30679331 I could find was £140. My suspicions are correct that these are essentially the same speaker as the 30679331, just with different foam placement, no rain baffle/mounting ring and a different connector. Comparison1 picture shows 3533795 (C70 Mk1) on the left and 30679331 (C70 Mk2) on the right. The rain baffle is completely removed from the 30679331 and the mounting ring has been detached but still shown in shot. Comparison2 picture shows the two stacked, to confirm the bolt circle is the same. I'll be doing some surgery on these to swap the foam, rain baffle/mounting ring and plug from the dead driver onto the replacement. I'll take photos as I go and assuming it works I'll do a write-up for anyone else with the same predicament... |
