Camber, Caster, toe etc
I am getting some wear on the inside edge of my front offside tyre and know that this is down to the geometry being out. The local main dealer who I would normally use is wanting £170 for doing a four wheel alignment check and adjustment where necessary. At the moment I do not have this sort of money but obviously need to get things sorted. Can anybody on here provide me with all the relevant angles/measurements for caster/camber, toe in/toe out etc. There is a garage down the road who is doing four wheel laser alignment checks and adjustments for a fraction of what the main dealer is charging but I want to be in possesion of the Volvo stated figures before I go to the garage. I had another local garage do some adjustments about 2 years ago and they mucked up the whole thing and I had to go back to Volvo to get things sorted but at this moment I simply can't afford to go back to them.
Any help would be most appreciated. V70 140bhp 2000 (X reg) model |
I may be wrong but I think the information is in the handbook.

would almost pay to get your chauffer to drive your car to the T5D5 MRG meet in July
Lipscombes tend to be well beyond the point of expensive, almost as if they take Volvo Guide prices and add a hefty negative Discount |
Thanks Chris but I have had a look in the user handbook that came with the car but can't find any figures/measurements.
Cookie... My Chauffeur? What makes you think I have one of them? If I could afford one of them I wouldn't be worrying about saving some pennies and wouldn't be driving around in a 10 year old Volvo! ;-) |

You could probably drive to MRG, get alignment done properly and drive back, and even after petrol and pub lunch have change in your pocket, and if you did it at the T5D5 Meet in July they even lay on a buffet. I avoid Lipscombes like the plague, even though they are only 10 mins drive away from Me |
Sorry mate, you caught me off gaurd! ;-)
I think if I left things until the meet the tyre would have worn through by then... it got through the MOT in December but really ought to be dealt with sooner rather than later! Where would I find MRG? It doesn't sound Kent based. |

I've attached the values when I was doing laser alignment of my S60.
Good luck. |
Gents, thank you very much for your prompt replies. Much appreciated.

Acually if you can do the trig and have a long length of string, a flat level surface, a builders sprit level and some spacers (childrens wooden bricks are good) then this is a DIY job if you need to save the cash.
