V60 trust tow bar.

Hi all. I had a towbar fitted last year on the v60 R design.
The bar appears very low and I think that a xc one has been fitted. Does anyone have the ball details from trust or the E4 number and ACS number as the net seems useless.

Thanks in advance

Paul

The towball height with the vehicle laden should be between 350 and 420mm. Measured on level ground to the center of the ball.

Ah thanks. Mine sits at 320mm with the van on but not checked just loaded

is the R design lowered? could that be the reason?

Hi no the car is standard. My neighbour has a XC60 and I have the identical removable ball to his. It's says my load level Is 140kg on the ball but the bracket on the car states 90. When I Google the number it's listed for XC60. BMW X5 Merc ml320.

post codes and makes/etc and maybe we can find if it is different, as i know some bit sof the early V60's were the same spec as the XC.

the front badge for example is one

Everyday a school day, I had no idea there was a EU directive in tow ball height. But does that still apply??

I've spoken to the company today and they have told me it's all correct, I can have a 40mm higher ball but they have said that i probably need spring assistors, the car sits at 355 mm from the ground unladen and with about 82 kg of weight (me) drops about 10.5 mm. My caravan wants to be around 380mm from the ground to sit slightly nose down. Does anyone else tow with there v60? Do you put any weight in the back?

Whyman Aug 25th, 2021 09:19

With just you in it sits at 345mm below the standard and the vehicle could not be described as laden. Was the fuel tank full?
10 mm is quite a drop for just you! Are your rear springs OK? Would spring assistors help?

If they are and you took the replacement ball at 40mm higher it would be at 385mm. With more load in the car it would seem to be a perfect match for the 380mm got your van

Sorry I meant with my weight on the tow ball to simulate the weight of the caravan. Max is 90kgs permissable so that would be close to maximum with me being 82kgs. Which gives me a 10mm drop. One of the worst effects I've had is the caravan snatching the car back over bumps. Something I've never had ever towing with e car and caravan unladen.
