o6 plate V50 SE Sport - iPhone?
Hi all,
First post to this forum as a new V50 owner! Am overwhelmed by all the information on the internet about this topic, and can't seem to find a thread about this on this forum! What is the best way to connect my iPhone (music not phone) to my lovely new V50? Embarking on a long journey soon and can't face it without my music! Any help gratefully received! Cheers |
Either Dension or Parrot
I have installed a Parrot Mki 9200. Works great, plays music and shows artwork, also bluetoith for phone. Theres a usb input, iphone connector and line in. I have put a thread/post on here on how to install with pics as well Rgds J |
Depending on spec & age a USB & Aux Input port were fitted, your car seems quite high spec being a SE Sport so you may have these fitted.
Other than that you will be looking at some aftermarket hardware to play & send a signal from your IPhone to the stereo via FM Radio. |
The usb and aux were fitted to the new shape 2007 onwards. The 06 Sport was superceded by the 2007 R Design. Early 2007 models still being registrd were the last of the old shape.
Dension is about 500 plus but uses the cars existing controls(steering wheel and lcd display) , parrot is a stand alone system that uses the cars speakers and has its own amp - i think its excelkent. You can still use your extg radio and cd, it overrides the parrot when u switch on. 200 approx, fitted yourself Rgds J |
My car came with the 3.5mm socket in the armrest cubbyhole, I just use a double male lead to link my iPhone4 and just opperate it manually. As for charging as I don't have a USB socket in the car I bought a slimline cigar socket adaptor converting the 12v socket to USB. So plugging this in the rear socket behind the armrest I feed the sync cable under the armrest keeping everything neat n tidy.
Best budget method I could think of. |
Its easy when you have a 3.5mm lead already there!. If you dont already have one pre 2007 models then there is no option other than retrofitting a Dension or Parrot to enable Ipod/Iphone/MP3 integration.
 |
Thanks - the parrot MKi 9200 looks like it'll do the job perfectly.
