240 Engine noise

Hello,

Recently my 240 has started making a "tapping" noise. It sounds as if a fan blade is hitting something, but it only happens when I engine-brake and it seems to originate from the engine itself. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what it is.

Hi

The first thing to check is, does the fan move back and forth if you pull on it. If so first ensure the bolt are tight, if they are the water pump is probably worn and will need replacing. If not post back and i'll think further.
