2005 XC70 Bumpers - Restoring

What do y'all use for blackening up the bumpers on your XC70s?

I have a 2005 XC70 and the bumper trim (of which there is plenty lol) could do with a real going over to make it look new.

I've tried Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer with poor results.

Any suggestions welcome!

Cheers,
C

I gave up trying to restore mine and just masked it up and sprayed it all with black spray paint for plastic surfaces, has been fine for about 2 years so far without flaking off or anything

I found it easier to just carefully mask off and do in sections rather than faff about trying to remove each piece individually. with the exception of my front bumper strips which unlike yours pop off and back on really easy

the only thing is you do have to then commit to doing all the black bits or the older stuff really shows up as being slightly grey

when done it looks brand new again

(note the little picture below is from before I did it so still looks grey)

I used this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171020390358

I managed to make 2 tins go the distance, you might need 3

probably others are available that do exactly the same

Try boiled linseed oil, used it on black plastics on previous cars to good results. Not done my xc yet though..

Tried linseed oil as I had some sitting about. Did a great job of restoring the colour and beading water!

Let's see how long it lasts.
