VIDA/DiCE hardware update
I have a VIDA/DiCE 2014A unit I bought a while ago. The computer part all works fine, but I am having problems updating the DiCE unit - it connects to the laptop (running Win 7 Pro) and looks for updated software, but can't find any through Microsoft update service, so fails to update. It's the multi colour LED version. I'd manually put a file on the laptop for it to find, but it doesn't seem to give me the option to look on the computer - and, anyway, I can't find any updates to upload...
I have found a number of links online to updated firmware, however all seem to now be dead links. Can anyone help with this? |
join the vida dice user group on facebook plenty of good advice on there or send a pm to motor mat on the forum mat is an expert on all things vida dice and vdash.

I don't "do" Facebook unfortunately - not a fan of social media - so I'll try Motor Mat

Can you not do a windows restore?? Vida won't work post 2014A , so why fiddle with something that worked?. IIRC back in the day members go in a right mess updating the dice software. I'm no technology geek and have many bitter lessons of fiddling with tech thats not broke, fiddling hoping to improve it and consigning it to the bin!.:(

If you have a clone Dice that works, do NOT upgrade it. AFAIR, I've read somewhere that you should NOT upgrade a properly functioning clone Dice firmware ever. And it could well be info from Matt's website...
As it does not work with new cars, there is no point... |
Unfortunately the DiCE unit doesn't work - it's stuck with the original OS installed on it, which doesn't work with VIDA 2014A, which I have running fine. I can "see" the DiCE unit on the computer, I just can't find the firmware update to install on it.

DICE IS THE THING YOU PLUG IN. There should never be a need to update the firmware in all my years of using it (ten years)

Hi
When I got my dice unit many years ago I was told that some of the “cloned”dice units won’t accept firmware upgrades and will often “brick” the unit. So I have always left mine alone . What reason do you want to upgrade the firmware? Any problems I have had in the past have always been “windows” related. However since switching off all windows updates, I even have the WiFi switched off, I have not had any problems. I did have issues many years ago and it ended up being a bad solder joint on the DICE Thread on my problem and the resolution on:- Post 15 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=286743 |
