How many of you have had to change cars due to ULEZ Tomorrow

Me for one....Now having to buy easily double the fuel and I think a waste of what was a great car (BMW E61, fast as hell , great MPG but electrics designed by Diane Abbott) . And the rumours of further changes in 2025 are also worrying .

Good question. Needs asking!

link to tfl.gov.uk in case anyone needs to check.
Fortunately I don't drive my car into London very often and my family that do live in London are outside of the North/South Circular (just), but I'll have to remember if they say 'Lets go to this pub for lunch' if it's inside the line.
I don't suppose there will ever be a definitive answer to how many cars had to be replaced? It will depend on the spin anyone wants to put on it 'Only a small number of people were adversely affected' vs 'Perfectly good cars had to be scrapped as useless', or 'Many polluting vehicles were removed from the roads which made a vast improvement in air quality' vs 'There are just as many cars on the road and it made no discernible difference'.

Doesnt matter. If maypr Khant sticks to schedule - and so far he has - from 2025 the cleaner vehicle discount is abolished and no vehicles, not even electric cars, will be exempt unless in the disabled taxation class.

I'm in the process of changing our 'fleet' and had hoped there'd be some super bargains to be had.

Not so far ...

There is for those outside who want nice diesels . I nearly went to Devon for a Mazda 6 estate , and Scotland for a Saab . Good petrol cars are holding values and selling seriously quickly .The V70 i bought yesterday was a super fast process as I knew others would be after it .

Am I right is thinking you can still drive in London in any car, just have to pay the charge?

Spike56 Oct 25th, 2021 13:43

or avoid the place as the £ per day charge is utter BS
same with birmingham + bath ,not that there is Anything worth the £8+ per day charge in birmingham's zone, IF you could Get there thanks to the main roads in/out and around all being nothing but car parks due to being coned off for "work" (with the usual no workers in sight ever just more cones)
