Data Sim Card PAYG UK - Recommendations - April/May 2022
Hi All,
Just wanted to reach out to the community to ask if there if anyone is aware of any current 'deals' on data sim cards. My existing Three data SIM card has expired or my data allowance has been used up and I am looking to replace it. I was using this Three Mobile Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband 24 GB data SIM, which I purchase off Amazon UK, after a recommendation from older Threat on the same subject. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M3VJ2...047C244YT4N0JK Interested to see what other Volvo owners are using as alternatives data sim providers, or are they sticking to the existing Vodafone SIM and subscribing to the data plans after the initial plan is over. Thanks again in advance. |
I am using 3G at this moment but if you interested to buy it at this moment is too expensive. Normally you can buy for £34.
You can check Vodafone https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08F2Q9C...ing=UTF8&psc=1 |
I'm using a Three pre paid sim. They offer 12 month ones with varying data.

If it's not a silly question, only a few months into owning a Volvo, how much data is needed monthly or annually to be able to only run things like live traffic and audio using a streaming service?
Vodaphone want £100 a year for 100GB |
Live traffic, etc, uses a relatively trivial amount of data.
Spotify on its High Quality setting will use ~75MB per hour so listening for an hour every day for a year (365 days) would use ~27 GB. On Normal setting it'd use ~16GB per year. Video streaming via the Wi-Fi hotspot would use considerably more. I just tether my phone and use its data plan. |
I am using car internet for live traffic, maps update and tethering this internet to passengers. I dont use Spotify and in last year i used just over 7 GB.

3 sim here too.

3 data only sim12GB lasts 12 months or 24GB lasts 24 months, once data used or 12/24 months are up throw it away and buy a new one, (topping up is expensive and it is cheaper to buy another)

Another vote for Three
we had their SIM in our old XC40 after the 1 year Voda sub expired, but the SIM we had had 250Mb per month for life |
Yup I also use the Three data sim. I get the 12GB one, and it works perfectly - it also roams around the EU as well (I think this is still the case, even after Brexit).
I've never used the full 12GB of data, though I only use it for app updates, and traffic. |
