AW55-50SN and Haldex

A quick question.

Does the AW55-50SN transmission fail more often in 4WD vehicle than a 2WD vehicle?

And can anything be done to resolve that issue?

Cheers

Kym

I would doubt. The problem with the AW55 was the solenoids were not properly designed and grit would build up on the tiny bushings that secure the moving rod so the rod would start moving slower in time, which in turn would start wearing other valve body components. Having the fluid changed would delay this issue. Generally speaking the rest of the transmission was solid.

Thank you for that clear, concise and honest answer

This transmission has come in for a terrible rap and if it is something as simple as the solenoid then that would be the first thing that should be replaced.

A clean solenoid will save a whole world of grief.

Now the question is how do I clean the sucker.
