Dashboard lights turning off at night on XC40
 

Hi Forum
I have a new XC40 and I am having intermittent problems with my dashboard lighting. This usually happens at night and the whole dashboard plunged into darkness that stops me being able to drive the car..
Has anyone else had this problem? I have taken it to the garage who say they couldn’t find the fault!

Think about when it happens.
Completely random?
When AC is on?
If going over a certain speed?
When driving only at night?

If it's brand new, you should be speaking to Volvo.
But at any rate, trying to figure out if it's happening at the same time each time it happens will help diagnose.

Can you get a cheapo dash cam or a GoPro set to rolling record and put it somewhere behind you, pointing at the dash? Then you'll have something to show. If the garage is going to play silly buggers and say they can't find anything wrong with it, you can show them a recording.
