S60 2007 - Interesting issuew with central locking
Hi Guys,
I have interesting issue with central working. It works fine (open the doors) only when the key is positioned next to the front mirror within 10cm distance. If the key is anywhere else( next to any doors) etc it won't open the doors. Any ideas? It seems like the signal receiving which connected in "chain" for all doors and boot is not working. Any advise welcomed. Unfortunately don't have vida. |
Fob battery ?

Checked all the fuses with multimeter as well. |
is it only happening in certain places, or everywhere? because you can get interference from some things like wireless door bells, HIAB trucks if there's a building site nearby with constant lorry deliveries (remote control booms) another one is whenever I go top golf it never locks because of the radio transmitters that locate the golf balls
so if it works ok in tesco car park for example, but not at home, the car actually might be fine |
Aerial for the fob is in the rear view mirror, so either interference on 433.9MHz (the fob frequency) which will only happen in the one location.
Fault on the receiver module, or low output from the fob transmitter. |
As above, is there any nearby device that could interfere ? Maybe even a cell phone antenna post. Otherwise, is this the self dimming mirror ? Maybe there is an issue with the electronic board, the glass on these start leaking at some point.

Mine does the same.
Believe the antenna in the c/l module (upper electronics module) in the mirror is prone to dry solder or similar leading to intermittent range issues. Mine has just cured itself after a year and a half and I’m enjoying it while it lasts. |
Hi Guys,
It's everywhere. Basically it works up to 80cm of mirror which inside the car :) Thanks for the hits. I will have a look. So there is only 1 antenna in the mirror then ? Thanks Raf There is no problem with radio etc as well just the central locking. |
