Charging advice!

Hi guys !
I am new to this forum and have just bought my first Volvo ,XC40 T5 hybrid, After a week of ownership, am well impressed.
I do not wish to spend a fortune on chargers and was considering taking a feed from my consumer unit 16amp through a 16amp timer to my charging socket.
This would enable me to plug the car in when I get home and then after midnight the socket would be fed with low tariff power and the car would start charging whilst power through the night was available!
Do you see any problems with this set up?
If I did not use a timer but scheduled the car through Volvo app, would it cause
Any problems having my car hooked up to a live socket for six hours waiting to start charge?
Also what chargers and methods do you use , thanks in anticipation!

Charging advice

I plug mine into a smart socket I installed in my garage , it monitors the kw has a timer that can be scheduled and I can remotely switch on or off the Wi-Fi controlled smart socket or monitor status etc , I use the kw/h meter to back charge the company I work for and reclaim the cost of the electricity.
