Retro fit bluetooth

Hi all, am regretting not getting bluetooth in my XC60. Phoned dealer about retro fit and told I would get a different system to factory install. I don't like the sound of sticking the controls on the dash.

Is it possible to do a complete retro fit of the factory bluetooth, e.g. new steering wheel controls, alpha-numeric pad on dash and microphone in roof etc... or would that just be stupidly expensive?

Hi

Ive the dealer fit option on mine and its quite a small and unobtrusive unit on the dash next to the steering wheel. As its silver it doesnt look that out of place with the aluminium trim that Ive got in mine and the sound both from the car and calls coming into the car is clear as a bell. Would recommend it if thats the phone system you prefer.

Should add that it does take a wee bit of time to program in all the voice activated numbers you wish to use most as youve to store them one at a time. Once done though its all dne by one press of a button.

Cheers

Where is the microphone placed? Can the other person hear the passenger if they speak as well?

I would have thoght that it would have been stupidly expensive as you might think. The steering wheel alone is several hundred pounds and then there's all the labour for routing wires etc, I would say that a third party unit would be better value.

I think the microphone is up in the roof console beside the lights. PAssenger does need to speak up a wee bit but I can use just normal tones near enough. Dont have to scream at it.

don't bother with volvo unit, will cost you arm and leg,

just get a parrot ! http://www.parrot.com/uk - they are the best, v cheap, sound superb, works with any phone, unobtrusive, syncs phonebooks, etc.
I have CK3100, so good I had it moved from one car to another. total cost would be £200 inc fitting. I used these guys: http://www.avrmobiles.co.uk/

later models include ipod connectivity and control of ipod functions too.
