XC90 Mk1 Later Siren Type
 

I've just acquired a 2014 XC90 R Design. It's come complete with the "Alarm System Service Required" message. I was expecting to do a similar job to that on my previous 2004 car, but am advised that the siren is a later model (part 31414753) and not the usual plastic sort.
Does anybody have experience of these? I'm quite happy to replace with a new one (dealer is chipping in) if that will fix the fault. Is it in the same place (driver's wheel arch) as the earlier model?

I don't know for sure, but if it is (why wouldn't it be ?), I had to take mine out (2005MY) and it's basically riveted in a metal box inside the wheel arch so it's not just an unbolt job. I had to dremel the heads off to get at it. As suspected the internal battery/pcb was toast.
