Got myself a V70 2.5T SE

Time to venture into the realms of the V70...
Having owned my P2 Volvo XC90 for over 5 years and my P80 850 for almost 3 years, I decided it was time to get another P2 but this time in the guise of a V70. I took a flight from Glasgow to Heathrow then was collected by the dealer and driven to Slough to view a willow green V70 2.5T SE. After a thorough look round and a test drive and a lot of haggling I drove 420 miles home where the mileometer turned over to 64,007. First stop was at Forton Services and a quick picture in the dark... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677023263 Next morning before breakfast I had to take a look out the window at what I had purchased https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677368919 Still space for another one https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677089600 Having been laid up in a garage for 10 years the underside doesn't seem to have any nasty bits I need to worry about https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677090630 I'll clean it and give it a blast with the Lanoguard once the weather is a bit warmer https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677090632 Thursday was spent polishing the paintwork to remove a few marks https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677175945 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677175963 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677175963 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677175963 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677175963 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1677176052 Short video of the car CLICK |
She’s a beauty.

Looks lovely ...
I saw that on eBay, thought the asking ££price was a bit 'toppy'. If it had manual transmission and/or an oak interior we would have been in competition for the purchase!! Well done you ..... |
You know what's next. Check those parking brake shoes!

Thanks for your kind words.
Yes the original price was 'toppy' but I was lucky enough to see the advert about 2 minutes after it had been posted and I started a conversation with the vendor straight away. After a lot of questions I made an offer which he counter-offered and I the counter-offered his counter-offer until I was happy with the price which was no where near his asking price. I paid a deposit and part of the deal was he put a new MOT on the car which couldn't be done until the following Monday. I flew down on Tuesday and found a few faults with the car and was ready to walk away and he asked me what I would pay, so I made him a silly lowball offer to which we went back and forth until we both had a price we were happy with. It really does pay to know what to look for when buying a used car. Diagnostics is a good basic check but knowledge is king. |

Yes, and please bring your camera to that party.
I found my current V70 ('07 base) at a Volvo dealership 230 miles away. My dealership serviced parking brakes locked the rears solidly....for 6 weeks. When I do my rear brakes, I'll get the Volvo shoes and install the replacement spreader assembly for the "H" bar. |
Got the same model - only paid £3500 for it 10 years ago on 70,000 miles. A lot of car for the money.

Whenever I open my boot lid and survey the carpet, I always wonder what said carpet and wheel arch covers would look like without an embedded covering of dog hair.
Would you be so kind and post a picture of the inside of the lower tailgate carpet as well. Oh and if it's not too much trouble, the windows without noseprints would make my day. Many, many thanks. |
