FS: 2x SC-901s

I have 2x SC-901s for sale. One is working fine and has a code, the other doesn't have a code and is of unknown condition, so should be considered a spares/for-repair unit.

Both have the triple CD tray. The spares unit has a cassette line in adaptor, again of unknown condition.

Looking for £100 for the pair, plus postage, or can be collected from Doncaster.

Cheers Sam

Hi,

What colour faceplates are they - black or grey? I'm looking for a fully working black one.

John

Meant to have mentioned that John sorry - both are GREY :(

But you could always swap over the face plate? I've done that with my 805/835 -

Just a thought ;)

Hi Again,

I take it the photo you attached is not of the units you have for sale as they look like SC-805's with a single CD slot. The one on the left in the image is exactly what I'm after as the SC-805 in my T-5R has a kaput radio (everything else works ok). It's black like the one on the left with the "Premium Sound System" script in yellow.
I already have a grey SC-805 that is fully working but the faceplates are not interchangeable with earlier 805's like mine. There was obviously an internal design change on later versions whereby the faceplate is integral with a metal plate with electrical gubbins in it and connected to the main body of the unit by a multicore ribbon cable. On the early 805's the faceplate is just a simple plastic facia that clips on.

Regards
John

The pic is of my grey faced 805 and black Japanese equivalent 835 that was in my 850R. As the Japanese radio doesn't cover the UK radio spectrum I swapped the faceplates over so that I have a UK spec 805 body with the original black 835 faceplate. It was a 5 minute job on these as the faceplates are only held on with 3x small torx screws.

I didn't realise that the 901s were of a different design - thanks for the info, you learn something every day :)

The 901's are the troubled Alpine 3 disc units, which constantly jam or have Cd related issues.
Best avoided.

The working 901 I have is one of the later units (2004 IIRC) with the revised mechanism ;) It still has the changer controller so can be hooked up to a boot mounted changer.

The 901 does need an external amplifier however - forgot to mention that. (01s didn't have internal amps and used either an under the passenger seat, or next to the heater matrix amp.
