Are my heater controls meant to light up?

I was just wondering if at night, when the headlights are on, whether the centre console should be illuminated; the bit with the heater setting and where the air is meant to be directed? At the moment, at night they do not light up. It's a 340 1.7 GLE.

Thanks.

Hi,

The icons on the panel should be backlit but the 2 control levers are unlit.

Also a light in the centre console area sort of illuminates the ashtray (when you open it) positioned below the radio on our 340. Not sure if this is stray illumination from the radio or from the backlit heater icons but it is handy. Never had to change these bulbs myself yet so can't comment on ease of change - but other interior bulbs seem to have good long life - when my boot light failed it was in fact only corrosion on terminal, bulb worked again after brush with emery paper

It is a dedicated light for that front ashtray - neat touch, eh?

I have added illumination to the switches behind the gear stick (rear wash/wipe, fogs, etc), and am working on the window switches, using ones from a 940 :)

cheers

James
