Looks like a very good body.

The engine and car are the same as you would find in a 1974 140 with B20A engine

Indicators clear/orange is original. The clears are aftermarket. Bear in mind there are two versions of front lights, 2 and 3 screw fixing.
On the age car you have there should be a chrome trim going around the light that looks to be missing

Excellent.
I suppose that in order to register the car it will need a SVA inspection, or you might get away with just a MoT? After the first one you should not need another MoT. Once you have an age related registration from DVLA you should be able to change its class to historic and (hopefully) just pay one month’s tax.
Well done, the car is lovely.

More musings...

A couple of further thoughts.

The B20 makes sense for the Italian market as the tax on cars with 2-litre plus engines was horrendous - Ferrari offered a 208GTB/GTS in the domestic market for that very reason so Volvo would have fitted the B20 for the same reason.

The clear indicator lenses are PROBABLY correct; I can remember seeing a lot of Italian-registered cars in Glasgow in the 1970s with clear front indicators (Fiat 124s, 125s and even a couple of 500s!). Similarly the orange button repeaters would have been required for the Italian market.

As has been noted, the B20 came from the 140 so it might be worth looking on that section for tips, hints and parts.

I assume that it originally had some form of driving/spot/fog light fitted above the front bumper as there are 2 grommets visible in the head-on shots?

No all very simple just a normal MOT and it can be registered as it is a Euro market car

Hidden rust is always to be expected in project like this. Too good to be True :) not so bad overall and we will fix it easily. Any suggestion is welcome and thanks for the tips to find the rusty nasty bits!

Not sure why they have the overload springs and also fitted some rubbers into the main spring

loki_the_glt Mar 8th, 2020 18:33

There's an intriguing collection of other Volvo Vagens in some of the shots - the 945 with the fancy graphics and light-bar and a 245GLT(? - it's on Virgos) plus various FWD models.

Sounds simple. Belt and braces?
