Can .mp3 files be stored locally?

Sensus.
Can .mp3 files be stored locally [and if so, how]?
Or do they always have to be played over Bluetooth (e.g. phone or pod) or from a USB device?

Nope, they can't be stored other than on an external device.

It depends which model and year you have,, Yes MP3 can be stored on the internal hard disc on most models for the last 10 years or so , you can load them in from a USB memory stick ... read your handbook ....

Not on my XC90 nor any SPA-based model afaik.

well you don't need to if you plug in a USB memory stick full of your songs ,
but you can take advantage of the hard drive in the 2010ish to 2016 older models 👍

So just to be clear, Lexman is correct and you were incorrect then Clan? They cannot be stored locally on an internal hard drive on SPA models (to which this forum is dedicated)?
