P0299 Low boost woes

Hi all,
Looking for some wisdom, or possible the location of a good cliff to push the car off.
The said car is a 2012 D5 2.4 V70 300k miles
It drives great upto 2500 rpm then it has a dip in boost and the error code comes up along with limp mode.
I've checked (as much as I can) the boost pipes and vaccum lines and can't see or hear anything obvious, I've cleaned the map sensor on the inlet manifold....I did clean it a while before the problem, are they easily damaged?
The vac line from the air intake looses pressure when I attach a gauge is this normal?

I took it to a local Volvo specialist, he plugged it in and gave me a detailed diagnosis "it's not making boost"

I've run a cheap diagnostics tool on my phone and the desired boost and the delivered boost track quite nicely until you accelerate hard, the desired boost hits about 40psi the delivered flats out at about 32psi before error.

I do have a Vida unit but not entirely sure what I should be testing or looking for, so any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers,

Paul.

Plug Vida in, read the error codes (under diagnostics) and post up the results here (screenshots) you’ll likely have quite a few, some won’t be relevant or even active. Don’t clear them right away as you’ll clear the time time data which could reveal clues.

Thanks will do that tomorrow when I get some spare time.
I scanned it with Vida the other day after it went into limp mode and p0299 was the only one coming up apart from the infotainment system not being connected, but that hasn't been there for as long as I've had the car.
I'll try and get some graphs to see if anything looks a miss.
Thanks,
Paul.

Split hose? Can you hear a hissing when the turbo boosts?
There's a vacuum turbo actuator at the back right of the engine bay, could be faulty or blocked?

Morning,
Can't hear anything hissing or wheazing, I've checked all I can.
I'm doing a service tomorrow so I'll have a good look when I get underneath.
I do have a bit of an update/theory.
I ran the car down below 1/4 tank the other day and it ran much better, it will still throw an error code, but you have to try a lot harder.
It got me thinking, I changed the fuel filter a few weeks ago as I thought that might be the issue, when I was done I put the ignition in position 3 to prime the system and heard nothing from the pump, thought nothing of it at the time but it's got me thinking now that maybe the in tank pump has gone, the injector pump is noisier on a full tank as well.
If the cylinder isnt getting the fuel it needs would that result in a drop in exhaust gas, lowering the pressure on the hot side of the turbo then in turn reducing boost or am I talking complete ©®@p
The wastegate does seem to be working as is the exhaust bypass.
Should the tank pump make a noise on every start?
Mine seems to be very silent
Sorry for the long post

intercooler?

Ild take a look around the intercooler.. had mine go recently with a similar lack of boost .. Not so easy to see, so remove the front plastickery near the rads, pretty easy to do.. then have a look (its the centre 'radiator' in the sandwich) signs of black oily deposits and a bowed bottom or top edge are the big clues.. pic attached of the busted one !

Thanks for the replies, I havent had time to get too involved with it as work is manic at the moment, so I'll have to tease it along for a bit longer, plus the blower motor died on me yesterday so I'd better get that sorted first.
Will update post as soon as I get a chance.
Cheers.

Fanfare please!!!

Hi all,
So after much head scratching and Vida deciphering, I came up with a plan, the boost control valve has always made a bit of a weird sound when you turn the engine off and Vida was saying the wastegate was at 100% most of the time, so I figured I'd start by there and bought a good used bcv.
Went out to swap it over tonight and what should I find?
One of the vac lines has had the factory clamp replaced with a cable tie, when I removed the old valve lo and behold, I found the culprit, the local garage who I trust for "small jobs" has snapped one of the outlets and glued it back on!

Replaced it with the new one and took it for a spin....sorted, back to pulling like a train.

Moral of the story,
Don't use a crap mechanic
And if you hear hooves don't go looking for zebras, it's probably just a pony.
Cheers for the replies, if nothing else I've learnt a lot about turbos.

Go back and fire some F's into them. At the very least get the money for the new unit.
