Does this confirm no DPF?

V50 D4146T 2011. I believe there needs to be a module at the side of the battery if the car has a DPF? The dash menu lists it as "ADM ready" which is what's confusing me. Thanks.

"ADM ready" is displayed on cars fitted with a DPF that require EOLYS fluid/additive.

So yes, your car has a DPF. "Ready" just means there's no errors in the system.

Thanks, that was my understanding. I was thrown by an apparently-well informed video showing the module beside the battery on this photo however?

I'm not sure about why your car has no module next to the battery. As its a 2011, its more than likely got a DPF though & "ADM ready" is also showing on the dash. Unless someone has fiddled with it in the past?

Check your VIN number. The 8th digit of that number refers to your vehicle's emission code.

•If the 8th digit of your VIN is a number '3' - It means the car has a euro 3 engine (no DPF).

•If the 8th digit is a number '4' – It means the car has a euro 4 engine (DPF fitted).

•If the 8th digit is a number '5' – It means the car has a euro 5 engine (DPF fitted).

Kev the 8th digit is an F which is also puzzling as I can't find that letter described anywhere.

"E" or "F" means you have a DPF (scroll to the bottom posts in this thread).

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/archi.../t-169823.html

I also read another post somewhere that said the DRIVe models use letters like in the 8th character of the VIN, which means you have a DPF.

I don't know why there's no module next to the battery though.

It would appear though that the meaning of the 8th digit in the VIN varies between different Volvo models from what I've been reading... its all a bit confusing. So for example, if the 8th digit was a "4", that means the car has a DPF on some models, but not all. Some of these posts where I read that were old though, so I'm not sure whether the meaning of the 8th digit in the VIN changed over time.

Thanks for finding that info. I couldn't!

You do have the module (DPF differential pressure sensor) - it's just not in place. Look towards the bulkhead in your pic, you'll see it floating there with 2 pipes running down under the air hose towards the front of the car, one with a braided covering.

Good stuff, thank you for that.
