Volvos far cheaper in Sweden

I’m currently in Sweden and was at a Volvo dealer the other day and came across a V90CC manual!! Not even an option in the UK. The price 229,900kr

Quick google to convert to gbp - approx £17,600

The car was a 2018 D4 AWD with just 20,000 miles. You won’t even get a v90 in the UK for that with similar miles. Why are we been ripped off so much and why can’t we have all the specs the swedes have!

After all the cars are built to order so why can’t we build what we want and not what Volvo uk offer us?

Volvo’s were decently priced up until the Covid stupidity started. I bought a 22 month old 65 plate V60 Cross Country Lux Nav for £22k with 18k on the clock. That was in 2017 and the prices held pretty much in the land of reality and then when Covid landed I watched the prices rise stupidly for 2nd hand motors. Then since then import duties etc have made Volvo an expensive motor to buy. That said, I’ve seen the prices starting to slide in S/H motors now so there’s hope yet.
As for new motors, Import tax, VAT and so on, it’s the usual tax us to death thing.

Swedish miles are different to British. If the Swedish advert says 20 000miles then they mean 200 000km. One Swedish mile is 10 km. That prices sounds about reasonable in Swedish with that amount of miles.

We've fallen foul of that one when we've been in Sweden. It makes for some interesting conversations when discussing cruising speed (MPH) and fuel consumption (MPG (or Litre)) with our Swedish friends.

We've also found that cars like ours tend to do higher mileages in Sweden than the UK on account of the greater distances between towns and traffic free roads, conditions which Volvo (and Saab) were built for. Small city cars seem not so much so for the same reason, as anyone who has ever driven from Stockholm to Gothenburg in one in one hop will be able to confirm!

Regards, John.
