I've also got a fuel filter to try and sort out the whining fuel pumps, if that doesn't sort it then I'll get a new fuel pump or two for it.

I've had a set of virtually new Avon ZV7 tyres fitted in 205/60R15 flavour as my work were giving them away as the customer decided they wanted different tyres on their brand new car. Waste not want not especially when the rolling radius difference is negligible, the wider/lower profile tyre will improve handling and they were free as well as the fitting, balancing and new tyre valves.

Hopefully it will be ready to sell early next year as I've just had to fork out for a new boiler as mine is leaking in four places!

Ah well it is what it is, anyway Merry Christmas my fellow 7/900 series perverts.

Result on the tyres! Everyones favourite price! I keep thinking about a set of 205/70/15s on mine, more to correct the speedo than anything else although it would make the ride smoother too.

Try a drop (about 200ml/full tank of petrol) of my favourite ATF in the tank, it's quietened a lot of fuel pumps!

Was it a combi boiler Luke? Not what you need at anytime, especially this time of year with everything else happening! :err:

Have a great Xmas and don't get too perverted with your 7/9xx!!!

Great restoration, hopefully you get a decent amount for it after all that welding! Interior looks new! Those stretched pockets on the backs of the front seats can be fixed easily, saw a post on tb about that recently.

You've done a great job there, I know who to come to for welding now :D

Glad its been saved, its a lovely looking car. I had the same colour combo on a 960 I owned many years ago - adored that interior!

Merry Christmas Dave, I can't remember which way the tyre size difference affected it in theory but in the real world I don't think it made any difference to the speedometer.

Yeah a combi boiler that's about 10 years old, it wasn't the best when we bought the house 3.5 years ago and I've been expecting it for a while but why did it have to do it at Christmas?!

Cheers mate, I'll have a look for that thread on turbo bricks tomorrow.

Hopefully I will get a decent price, I know it has its visual flaws but so do most cars after 32 years and 165k miles.

195/70R15 +2.8%25.7" 7.7" 15 x 5-6.5"

According to https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/ the 205/60/15 is only 1.2% smaller overall than the 195/65/15 so definitely not worth worrying about, i think the orignal 185/65/15 would be a bigger drop to be honest although not checked.

My idea of 205/70/15 would give me about 4% ,ore speed for the same wheel rpm reducing the speedo error to 1-2% at a guess (currently about 7.5%) so might look more deeply into that when i next need tyres.

I don't know much about combi boilers other than most people swear at them because they tend to leak at will, as for doing it at Xmas, Sods Law!

My mate came over yesterday to borrow my hydraulic press to replace the wheel bearings on the front of his Peugeot 306, the hubs etc were so rusted together that the circlip wouldn't budge at all, the whole lot went in the bin and he needs to order new hubs and steering knuckles for it now. While here he had a look around the 760 as he missed his 940, long story short he is buying the 760 :D

So it has found a good home where I will see it very often and know it is being looked after.

So there you go, the easiest way to fix an old french car is to buy an even older Volvo :D

Deposit taken today and my mate went to a scrapyard and found a 740 so cut a battery tray out for me and the radiator support crossmember.
