Slight rattle from 2011 V50 1600 diesel.
Evening all.
Hope you can help. Been car hunting and found a 2011 V50 1600cc turbo diesel. 118k miles. No idea of engine code. BUT there is one issue that i cant put my finger on. Drives fine and a surprising amount of power for its size, weight and cc etc.... When i test drove the car i heard an underlying rattle from the engine. Just at the point where i come off the gas pedal and onto the clutch when changing gear. Also happens when i give it a rev when stationary. Blip the throttle. Just as i take my foot off. At peak and just as the revs start to decrease. I ran a mile last week when i heard it but still got the car stuck in my head. Keep running or could it be something that is common and easily repaired? Thanks in advance. Ruch |

No can do unfortunately.
Saw the car last Saturday (about 20 miles from home). Looked at another car today that was the same spec but was a no from me as soon as i walked up to it. Didn't even start it. Probably should have. |
Could be flywheel starting to show age. Just from your description but could be a million other things. Theres plenty cars about you don’t want to buy something and then have it in the garage straight away, nowt worse unless its cheap ect.

Definately engine and 99% sure it isn't flywheel.
Was hoping theres a brake/air pump or something on them that are common for rattling or something. Never mind lol |
Could literally be so many things. Without a recording of the noise, its hard to say.
If you're really interested in the car, bring a mechanic with you to do an inspection on it for a few beer tokens. Let him have a listen. |
