Fault P1600 and conversion to Volvo DTC

Hi all,

Whilst troubleshooting my radiator cooling fan I stumbled onto a DTC read off using my Anroid Torque App.

The Torque app is giving fault P1600 Throttle Unit - internal fault.

I found this on the net

http://seebg.eu/volvo/850/p_codes_co...dized_dtcs.pdf

Looks like it is for the 850? The table gives the Volvo equivalent DTC ECM 9190 which I can't find listed for the S40. All the Volvo DTC seems to be 2 digits for the S40.

Does anyone know of a more accurate DTC conversion table for the s40/V40?

And why does fault P1600 only appears when the engine is running? Or is it supposed to be like that?

Thanks!

Where exactly in VADIS did you get the fault code meanings? Do you search for it, or are they in a specific place? I didn't even know you could get this info on VADIS

Me too! If you don't mind sharing, I would also like to know how you are able to determine fault P1600 refers to DTC ECM 70 and 91.

I can't find any reference to P1600 or other generic fault codes in VADIS.

Thanks!

....first of all as "gatos" knows sometimes it does takes ages to try and locate information just to help members on here and it can be very frustrating when one doesn`t even know what model they are driving, i wish all concerned would really just state the actual Volvo they have and the mileage the car has done it would make life much easier as some members questions are not answered merely because one cannot be arsed to ask what they do drive!!!!

......when the vehicle is scanned for error codes it depends on what scanner is being used as there are so many on the market and they can come up with there own loaded type of code......as you know now there are quite a few so one has to look through the different codes you have in your own archive as you don`t know the scanner used.....the LINK above for the 850 series is not necessarily the same code for the S/V40 Series but as you can see from it`s format it is from a similar website and i expect from the USA......i looked at my own code sheet from the USA for our cars and sure enough P1600 was there and next to it is the equivalent ECM code depending what scanner used, in this case P1600 has TWO codes which is not abnormal so P1600 = ECM-70..or....P1600 = ECM-91.....if one then trawls through all the codes in Vadis one will come up against an ECM which suits the PO1600 code ECM-70 but it may be down as a DTC ECM-317 as the ECM-91 is written down as.......it really throws you but you can only follow logic and there it is......i sit reading Vadis for hours and it is NOT logical whoever designed it wants hanging but there you are it is there so we have to make do and work it out or go to Volvo and have an expensive fix!!.... as read the same codes cover permanent or intermittent.....Hope this helps?...

I agree 100% with you. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to find the right answer and some people just can't be bothered to look up for it. I have been around for 1 1/2 years now and I will only post a question if I cannot find the answer I am looking for. And that involves some searching. Not just checking yahoo answers where you can never get a decent answer.

Anyway, your method sounds quite interesting and I have learned something new today, so many thanks 960kg
