Caution , heads up

I purchased a 2012 xc70 the other month , which if you read my other posts had various issues (leaking windscreen, soaking carpets and a non working sensus unit from an S60 ! ) . I rejected this car as advised and luckily had my monies refunded . This car is now listed for sale on Auto trader in Boston with no mention of the previous issues ! Reg number is ST12WFJ. I ended up purchasing a 2013 xc70 from Barbara on this forum and couldn't be more happier with it 😉

Curiously, the last post that I can see from you prior to this one is from 2019.

Not sure if that's just me ?

Hmm , wonder where the posts have gone ? Anyway it was a one owner car and I purchased it through Auto trader and had the vehicle delivered to me . On checking the next morning (delivered late at night) it was very damp inside and there had been rain overnight. The A pillar interior trims were stained and Saturated with water and on checking the windscreen it wasn't bonded across the top and I could push it out at least 5mm ! The stereo and sat nav wouldwork as the infotainment screen says 'my s60' instead of xc70 . Obviously changed out for some reason and I expect water ingress ! Volvo quoted in excess of £2k+ to rectify , not including a new windscreen . Obviously the original garage I purchased it from has put it into the au tions - hence now in Boston and not Peterborough.

Regardless, on principle, I would not purchase any motor-car from a dealer whose advertisements include the words "1st to see will buy". Presumptuous nonsense!

Regards, John.

For those, curious to see the car.

I see from the photos it still says "My S60", and the Sat Nav says "Navigation, Please Wait"

Well spotted - If I was the OP I would be inclined to drop a polite e-mail to the dealer to let him know the issues, if he's honest he will deal with them or move the car on to prevent another buyer being disappointed (in spite of his cheesy sales patter)...

Its also missing the load cover from the boot, although that alone is unlikely ro be a deal breaker for many.

Regarding said car , I did email and converse with the seller and explained the issues that I had and why I rejected said vehicle previously . They had just removed it from sale due to an immobiliser fault and asked if I had any info that could help . They did know about the 'My S60' on the display and nothing working , I explained it was more than likely due to the huge amount of water ingress in to the vehicle from the non bonded top of the windscreen. They purchased the car through BCA auctions and were not happy about it as it was supposedly AA assured but that only covers the mechanicals. I have re checked Auto Trader today and it is again up for sale with the same dash display so it looks as nothing has been rectified :( Just dont be caught out with this vehicle .https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-det...ceDeposit=true

xc

the worst color by far[imho]
wonder if a service and software update would leave it showing my xc70...?

other than that and a screen replacement nor a bad old yolk, not as pricey as many others i have seen

How can it be "stunning showroom condition"? I'm pretty sure that when these were in the showroom they weren't full of water and everything worked!

I hope no one one falls for it, but if they do they then find this thread and have the evidence they need to bend the dealer over and stick it up their nethers.
