5 speed manual, low mileage for year at 113,688 miles (will increase as in use) just passed its MOT (expires 30/06/2015!), tax until 31/12/2014!, full service history with a folder stuffed full of invoices, receipts and every MOT. Last serviced in April. Excellent condition throughout, never been smoked in, towed nor had pets in. Very rare specification especially as its completely standard, un-abused and of course in manual form. It took me years to find this car - and that was five years ago!

Stunning rare turquoise metallic (it gets lots of compliments) with a fantastically comfy full beige leather interior. Being the T5 model it has 240BHP at its disposal giving a 0-60 of 6.7seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph!). Being the GT spec. it has air conditioning with full electronic climate control, cruise control, traction control, factory lowered suspension, 4x100w Dynaudio amplifier/speaker setup (sounds fantastic), electric heated memory seats and gorgeous 17" BBS split rim Propus C alloys. In addition to the usual goodies such as electric heated mirrors, power steering, ABS, electric windows, airbags galore, ski hatch, trip computer, leather steering wheel, electric aerial, SC901 stereo with 3CD disk changer (will be refitted upon sale), headlamp wash/wipe, front fog lamps, Volvo plastic mats, and of course not forgetting the all important leather centre armrest with pull out cup holders! Being a late 1998 model it is a true pre-Ford Volvo and was actually made in Sweden itself to boot.

This car has been my pride and joy for the last five years and has been treated to almost entirely genuine Volvo parts throughout its 'life'. I have continued this level of provenance and have fitted them either myself or entrusted my car to the local Volvo main dealer.

In my ownership it has had the following:
  • 2009: New cam belt fitted by Volvo @ 95k miles including tensioner and auxiliary belt - so not due again for another 3 years or so.
  • 2011: New ETM fitted by Volvo including a software upgrade @ 102k (so none of the dreaded ETM worries, but the benefits of the better economy and smooth power delivery).
  • 2013: Fitted 3 brand new brake calipers, fitted new rear disks and genuine Volvo pads. Including a full brake fluid change with genuine Volvo brake fluid. The brakes now work really well, much better than when I bought it.
  • 2013: New Volvo battery fitted.
  • Had new genuine anti-roll bar drop links and new front brake hoses in past couple of years.
  • 2013: Changed coolant with genuine 'lifetime' Volvo coolant and fitted a new Volvo thermostat.
  • 2013: New genuine upper engine mount fitted.
  • Serviced every year with approx. 4000 miles between services with fully synthetic oil and genuine Volvo filters.
  • The list goes on....
The car drives beautifully and truly drives like a car with less than half of the miles on the clock. The engine pulls strongly and still brings a smile to my face if I give it the beans. The gearbox is smooth and the steering is precise as you would expect. With a steady foot 30mpg is achievable in mixed driving, 34mpg on a run. I have no problems averaging 27/28mpg which is great for a performance car such as this with a lovely & powerful five cylinder engine.

The only reason this car is for sale is I could really do with getting a car that's a bit cheaper on fuel, hence I am reluctantly and half-heartedly putting it up for sale. Please be aware that I am not prepared to sell this car for banger money as some C70s are currently going for - my C70 has been very well treated. If I'm going to sell it - then I need sufficient money to buy something relatively nice for an 'eco-ish' car, otherwise I'll just continue to enjoy it.

Therefore the price is £2,295 o.v.n.o. Serious enquiries only please.

Oh my god... Never thought you would sell your pride and joy!

Having been in this car, I'll say this: it's an utter gem, Andy is the kind of person you want to buy a car from.

Thanks Kev :) Yeah I'm really in two minds about selling it. I doubt I'd ever find one as good as again, especially in this spec.

Also just realised I forgot to add that its had 4 previous owners and two private registrations in its time!

Another advantage of this being a pre-2001 model is that it has the cheaper tax at £230 a year rather than £285 for a 2001-. And as mentioned its got 5 1/2 months tax on it - worth about £120.

Made it the 260 miles home without fault, averaged 36.1mpg on the trip computer. You made buying the car a very easy, enjoyable experience! Thank you very much Andy!

AndyPants Jul 16th, 2014 00:27

Wow 36 mpg, I did suspect it would do more than 34 but having never taken it on such a long run I couldn't be sure! Told you it would have made it on the fuel in the tank ;) :) (but to be fair I did the same when I bought it despite it having half a tank! - 90 mile trip if I recall correctly)

Pleasure doing business, especially with a like minded car enthusiast :D

Suppose I'll need to change my avatar again...

Aks650 Jul 16th, 2014 00:45

It was up as high as 38 at one point... Excellent buying experience really nice to meet someone who treats their car well!!!
