How to keep central console touch screen clean?
(Not for the first time I wish there were non-model-specific categories .. .. we could visit .. ..)
I usually clean the central console touch screen by breathing on it then wiping with a dry cotton cloth. Twice usually works. But in no time any dust / fingerprints / smears are all too evident. I don't want to use a compound (soap? polish?) in case the finish either attracts dust and dirt [even more], becomes insufficiently sensitive to touch, builds up, or whatever. Any ideas? Sorry - this just cannot be the first time this query has been put! |
Its not actually a touch screen but you try hovering your finger a mm or less above it. But because its not a touch screen you can action all functions with your finger wrapped in a cloth! May help. Other than that yeah a fingerprint and dust magnet - could be worse, look at the ridiculous number of screens in the new A8/Q8 etc

I bought a glass screen protector like you get for phones which has a coating on it, reduces the number of prints quite a lot, I then use either the Volvo micro fibre cloth that came with my car or a micro fibre cleaning mitt when I clean the rest of the interior.

I stopped worrying about it and only clean the screen when it becomes truly gunky.

I used to care... but not anymore. I just clean when it gets really dirty.

If it really bothers you, there are screen protectors with a matte finish that are pretty good at resisting the appearance of finger marks. You'd have to get one for a large tablet - iPad Pro or similar - and cut down to size.

I agree with JS90. However, I managed to get a matte screen protector designed specifically for the Sensus screen. I can't remember which one I bought, but it's still in the car and works well for preventing both fingerprints and glare.
See below for a link to an Amazon search that might be helpful. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=volvo+s...ref=nb_sb_noss |
The answer is always to replace your car with a Morris Minor.
