how many 114GL were made in 1971
Hi,
would any onle like to take a stab at at the ratios of 144 GL made V 144DL I use to own a 144GL 1971 stuck out handles black grill (Automatic transmission) in metalic blue I'm toying with the idea of trying to track one down, what are my chances of finding a 144 gl auto from 1971? is there a register like there is for P1800's , that might give an idea of the numbers surviving I've looked to see if mine is still on the road and its not (from the DVLA site) so was probably scrapped years ago. Thanks Simon |
Simon,
I don't know the numbers but I think the GL was alot more expensive than the other versions when new, and the (then) new gangled fuel injection would have put off a lot of Volvo buyers. As they get older, rust takes it's toll (all models) but GLs may be more likely to be scrapped because some mechanics can't be bothered to understand the FI system. So, they're rare I think! Do you want an excellent car or something cheaper to do up? If the former, consider an import. If you want RHD I have a contact in Australia who might be able to help. Obviously, the shipping costs so it's only really worth it if you're buying a good condition car. John |
hi
I've not seen many for sale, my budget is low sadly with a view to doing it up over a period of time so I think OZ it out I guess I keep looking, I'm not in a hurry for one, just fancied re living my youth, once I find one , I just need to find a 2l Ford Capri to pi55 past :-) in kickdown |
Don't rule out non-GL 140s, or a 164 like mine. 164s are pretty fast and the other 140s can be tuned quite easily.
