Removing and replace tailgate light assembly
Hi, can you help. Has anyone any tips on removing the tailgate light assembly on my 53 v40. It's the whole light assembly with number plate recess on the tailgate lid. Cheers

Won't need those for the tailgate light assembly. Interior trim needs force, you'll have to slide your fingers under it. The light itself will loosen nicely once you unscrew the nuts.

If you are removing the lighting panel then obviously you need to remove the number plate first (if the original fixings are still in place).

For all the blind fat fingered futzes that have left us with broken cracked
bent crooked torn twisted **i* on almost every car I've had the pleasure Just get in there and force it off Quote:
Don't even begin to think to start including my posts in imparting your methods where the previous poster mentions clip busting, and a 2 quid preventative system that is also invaluable for use around the entire cars interior, is introduced as an option http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/pictur...pictureid=9981 sausage fingers, because I can. |
Great photo :)
Would you believe there is an actually an official Volvo spudger, should your toolbox shudder at the thought of anything but the best http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minka...6755138/p1.jpg |
That's them there thirteen of em official Volvo spudgers
the other seven are probably off spudging at the cricket. That's why I have 20, a few of them always nick off last time it was the footy, and also discount price was about one quid an tuppence, instead of twelve and a half quid. Because, its hard to keep track of a sports mad spudger. deciphered from AUD USD GBP NZD and EU |

Trouble is, once you've broken one or two the rest are sure to follow soon after, especially if the trim catches the panel every time you open the tailgate.
Self tapping screws worked quite well on the Sierra, haven't had to resort to that on the Volvo quite yet, fortunately I had some spare clips. But it depends how concourse you want to be. On our rusty old bucket it makes no odds. |
