tailgate handle repair?
 

Has anyone successfully fixed an estate exterior handle?
The problem is the button that has a plunger/rod running through two holes.
On my one, a portion of the button has broken away.Its made of Mazak type material. This allows the rod to wobble and prevents the handle from releasing properly.
Ive seen several early (chrome)handles on Ebay but they all in the USA which is not ideal.
Would something like Gorilla Glue/JB Weld be strong enough to hold a washer in place as a repair?

Panic over, the central lock pull rod was not clipping in place securely.A cable tie round the metal clip seems to hold everything in line now. Fingers crossed.
