A little advice...

Hi one and all

So, I put an ad in the local paper requesting vintage volvo parts thinking that people with their odd bits and pieces might call. Low and be hold a guy calls me up with a complete 142S thats been accident damaged but repaired, a 144S parts car that was used for the 142S's repair and a whole lot of extra of spares. Now if you ahven't read my stats, I have a 144S and a 142S. So you say why the hell not? You could have 2 awesome beauties rolling down the street!

Now, this is where I need the advice. And its advice from the head kind, not from the heart. I would know what to do if it was from the heart - I'd buy it all! :) Ha Ha!!!!

Here are a couple of question too:

1) What would you say these cars are worth and would I make my money back atleast?

2) Is it worth buying the cars, parting them out, keeping what I need and selling the rest on ebay or the like there of?

3) Am I just dreaming?

Dylan - do you actually need any spares? That's the first question. I assume you do, otherwise you wouldn't have placed the advert.

Second question: Which bits that you need are specific to the 142s/144s rather than genric 144? Unless you need a particular very hard to come by part that comes with these cars I'd avoid taking two whole cars - it's an awful lot of storage and you'll end up hoarding the bits for years when you don't really need them but can't bring yourself to get rid of them. That's what happened to me anyway!

Good luck.

I don't know how you worded your ad but you may not have actually said you wanted to "buy" these parts. Your respondent might just want them out of the way. That sounds like a good deal!

Hi, I'm a hoarder and a pessimist so my advice would not be of the rational variety. However, should you happen to take the cars and should they happen to have retro fitted rear seatbelts that you don't need, I'll gladly be your first customer!
