Average mpg ?
I have had my XC70 for a few days and checked out the average mpg reading, it started at 25.1 and is slowly increasing but is still only at 28.3 which is obviously(?) either wrong or the car has been thrashed, or maybe it is broken. How can i reset the trip meter(?) to get a truer average reading for mpg now that i am the owner and know how the car is being driven. ?

When you turn the stalk to the average mpg menu on the display hold down the reset button on the stalk for a few seconds that will reset the average mpg counter 👍

aha! , that was my mistake, i just pressed it once, didn't hold it down ;)

Yep it’s easy to miss I had the same problem when trying to turn off the traction control in my v70 went to the dstc menu and pressed reset but nothing happened until I held it down for a few seconds

When I picked up mine, the readout said 33.7 mpg, before my first fill up, then I reset it. Last tank was 46.5 mpg on the readout, (45.9 actual)

Oh, and something else a bit odd?, when you cancel the trip mileage, it doesn’t cancel the avg mpg , you have to cancel them both separately .

I drove 210 km the other day, towing my caravan. Consumption was reported as 11.6 l/100 km.
Then I drove the same way back, without the caravan. Consumption was exactly half, 5.8 l/100 km. I think that's fair enough, for a ten year old car, with 230 hp/470 Nm engine, auto gearbox, all wheel drive and the higher body of an XC70. You have to do the math yourself if you want to convert the consumption figures to range instead. After Sensus was introduced, DSTC is reduced form the menu system in the the display instead, not from the turn indicator stalk. The introduction of the TFT screen for the main dashboard changed some of these procedures again. |
