Rear brake disc backplate
Hi, my mechanic has told me that our rear backplate has corroded and so the brake shoe cant be held against it properly.... can anyone advise on where to get these from other than Volvo.... genuine Volvo items are over £40 each.
Also is this an easy DIY job or will the rear hub need removing. Thanks in advance |
You need to remove the hub/bearing assembly as it's the same bolts that retain the back plate. However that's not as bad a job as it sounds, just another 5 bolts for the bearing and driveshaft.
£40 aint so bad.... |

You could try a breakers yard, it's not a difficult job, i have just replaced both rear wheel bearings. same dismantling job

Surly you could do a fix with a welder? I done this on my v70. Or you could get a U bolt and make a tab up for the spring?
Just food for thought |
Thanks for the replies guys, I ended up ordering 2 for 40 quid online... buycarparts.com
