V40 fuel pump wiring / fuel removal

As posted elsewhere the car's dead and I need to empty the fuel tank. It did run but my tired, hamfisted and ignorant attempts to bridge the fuel pump relay contacts have resulted in it no-longer running; I think beause I've either knackered the pump, a fuse or something else in the electical system.

I'd like one last stab by widing the pump directly to a battery as accessed through the hole beneath the rear seat. Problem is there are four in-use terminals under there and I only need two :p

Can anyone suggest to me which I should be connecting to what please?

Ta :)

All I did when I drained my old phase 1 was spin the plastic ring off, remove the sender completely, and stuck a cheap (8 quid off eBay) submersible in, hooked it up to a battery outside the car and pumped it out that way.

Thanks! I've already had a crack at getting the ring off but it's stuck fast; although as has just been suggested to me I could always split / cut it off. I don't have a pump (or come to think of it any suitable hose ) but could try ladeling it out or similar. The alternative is to make a hole in the underside of the tank with an awl and drain it out that way.. I'm determined to get it out one way or another as it's still registering 3/4 full on the gauge... typical the scumbag pikies would knacker the car literally straight after I'd filled it up

For the countless forum members no doubt losing sleep over my plight, I managed to drain the tank last night by hacksawing / chiselling off the retaining ring around the fuel pump / sender unit (it was stuck on), removing the unit, ladelling out the bulk of the fuel with a jar and finally draining the dregs by cutting a hole in one corner of the tank with a knife and drill bit in a small tap wrench.

Not pretty or perhaps wise but it got the job done; and life is a little less miserable with the knowledge that I'm not sending £60's worth of fuel to the scrapper.
