Xc90 2010 13pin electrics issue
 

Hi guys. When I purchased my car it already had 7 pin electrics and aftermarket towbar fitted. I have upgraded to 13 pin for my caravan. I have a problem that I think is related to a poor ground connection. If I keep the fridge on whilst towing the ATC control keeps resetting so it effectively applies the brakes whilst moving. If I turn off the fridge the ATC works perfectly. So for now I just turn off the fridge. But I want to sort this and I think some of my earth points in the car aren’t great. Has anyone fitted their own that can advise where to connect the ground/earth point please? Thanks.

There is a separate earth for the fridge, and another one for the car +ve supply which powers the ATC. Did you fit both when you upgraded?

You should be able to trace the wiring back to the earth points and make sure the earth points are clean and secure.

Your earth points can be any suitable point on the vehicle chassis where you cab remove the paint under a screw or bolt.

Thanks all sorted! Like an amateur numpty I had the live feed in switched instead of unswitched so that was why it kept resetting. Doh! All correct now and tested all working fine.
