Freshen-up 2011 V70

Thought I'd get some thoughts on this:

MY2011 D3 manual. No major work done in past. Owned from new. Starting to feel old.

Issues:

Ride is not what it used to be.
Throttle is very "On" "Off".
Low revs on low speed corners feels like there's a mis-fire. But only occassionally in the morning.

Does my car need a make-over?

If so, what do you recommend?

Throttle body clean? I've an older D5 and it's a common feature for the throttle body to become clogged. Often results in a less responsive throttle as it sticks in various positions.

When was it last serviced?

Who serviced it? If it wasn't a dealer it could be so ething as simple as missing several software updates.

What tyres are on it? What are the pressures?

A lot of very simple things to check before considering a heart bypass.

It's reasonably up to date on software. tyres are matching Michelins all round.

I think the shocks are tired to be honest.

Faulty map sensor can give "on" "off" trottle response. Map sensor is mounted on the intercooler, remove left headlight for better access.

So, I hooked up Torque Pro via th ELM327 dongle and read fault codes - nothing.

I then looked at realtime date and the throttle position sensor reads 90% at idle.

Blip the throttle, no change. Little drive in town, no change until throttle lift then it goes to 20% but then straight back up to 90%.

That seems odd! Any ideas?!

You can reset throttle in Vida. I clean throttle body out yearly and reset at the same time. Smooth throttle action returns every time.

With your high reading have you removed the intake pipes and had a look at what's occurring.
If you can get access to Vida you can operate the throttle and check for full movement and that it parks where its supposed to.

My D5 was "dead", especially in turbo lag. After cleaning throttle body, egr, intake manifold and flaps - car was like new. Pulls muuuuuch better man. That is a must.

Not sure do you have flaps in intake manifold? If do, check connection rod between step motor and flaps

You did a proper job there! Don't think the D3 has swirl flaps.

Talking ride and handling, I replaced all my suspension at c140,000 miles. I actually lowered by 30mm all-round (Eibach kit), plus Bilstein B4s, new top mounts, all rubber "bits" (but Ford if you can - the bits are much cheaper - some even have Volvo stamped on them, but come in a Ford packet!). Then new drop links (Lemförder). Also added R-Design front strut brace (V60 one is identical to V70, but far more common), which made far more of a difference than I expected - particularly on fast, twisty roads, with virtually no "shake" as the suspension loads up.

Much improved handling and ride afterwards (despite lower height). Still crashed into potholes at the rear, so then replaced rear trailing arm bushes and that has sorted that issue. Really handles well now - though I am now dithering over an uprated rear anti roll bar...
