C30 d3 mpg
 

Hi,
In addition to my 940 which is sadly off the road currently I've got a 2011 c30 d3 r design.
However I only seem to get 32mpg average in the town and 40 when driving dual carriageway.
Judging from what other people say they get this is well below average.
Does anybody know what could be wrong with the car the make it do this?

too low an average speed ( should be over 40 mph for good fuel consumption )
hills
tyre pressures ( try 36-38 psi which will make a difference )
and the right foot of course

My average speed is probably around the 36mph mark or atleast it was last time I reset it after a tank, but most people on the FB groups etc get atleast 50mpg from what ive seen.

When driving out of town theres a few hills but nothing too steep, I might be wrong but 40mpg just seems too low...
Also when I drove the car home from London which was all motorway I only got around 40-45mpg

don't believe what others say regarding their fuel consumption :-)
70 + mph on that journey?

I would expect 50 + on a 65 mph trip on the motorway

just look at your instantaneous fuel consumption for a week you will soon see where its going wrong when it shows less than 20 mpg ..

Has the car been serviced recently, as in a recent oil change, air filter change & fuel filter?

about 3 months ago/ 500 miles

Just a thought...you are calculating the consumption yourself and not relying on the sumblime work of fiction thet is the OBC?
