Haldex AWD vibration jumping
Hello all forum users,
i have a big problem with my Volvo S60 2012 haldex 4th.. I've had a vibration/jumping problem on tight turns for some time now. It started in the winter when I couldn't move in heavy snow because the drive only worked on the front end and after a few miles I turned the car off and on and the drive came back. However, to this day, sometimes it works sometimes only after a while. I disconnected the fuse from the internal box and the vibration/jumping stopped. Currently, the drive spins even in neutral and rolls down, and the torque requested by awd was 0 (checked with a computer). I tried to remove the haldex pump, but it is very badly baked (maybe someone has some advice on how to remove it and not damage it), so I suppose that the oil may have never been replaced. Thank you very much to everyone for advice and help and suggestions! :) |
This video may be useful for you. Same Generation 4 Haldex.
Change the AOC Oil ( Use Genuine Volvo ) and also change the filter. All are readily available but I've found main dealer to be competitive on price if you ask for a discount. This unit definitely needs servicing

All Haldex clutches need servicing!!
Some car manufacturers will tell you that theirs does not need servicing. Volvo stated for the Haldex Gen 3 that it was a fill for life. It is a right pain to service a Volvo Haldex Gen 3. VAG did recommend a service on Gen 3. Later on the Haldex Gen 4 Volvo started to recommend service and VAG swung the other way and stated "Fill for life". |
Parents had a similar thing on their previous XC60 T6 AWD.
Turned out the Haldex motor was shot, probably from not being serviced. I changed the oil and filter on my V60 T6 AWD. It had only done 23k miles and it was clearly dirty and the filter covered in scum. A cheap job if the are handy with the tools. |
