OLD Central Locking!
 

I've been beaten! I have trawled through the forums and have seen others that have problems with their central locking, but not like my problem. So here's hoping that someone has the answer!

My 960 has decided that unlocking the doors is a lowly task and just like the London Underground today has gone on strike! Well its not so much on strike, but deciding for itself when to work.

Problem is that central locking is happy to lock but will not unlock. Immobilizer arms - disarms okay. I have tried both fobs we have and have the problem using both of them. The central locking operates and locks/unlocks okay using key in lock. Have checked fuses (just in case), but obviously they're okay otherwise doors wouldn't lock. I've checked all handles inside and they're okay. In trying to get the doors to open (using the fobs), I would say that I have a 1 in 10 success rate.

This has happened suddenly this morning, for no reason. I've not been messing about with the car at all. I don't think reprogramming the fobs will help, but I (as well as my wife and child, who both got soaked this morning trying to get into said car!!) would be grateful for any help.

Check through the FAQ initially:
FAQ: Door won't unlock....

Again, if the locking system works from inside the car (?) (not much use if you are outside of course!!) then it is likely the actuator. But have a check through the FAQ first..

Thanks for the suggestion of the actuator Des. I have also had another look at the FAQs, but nothing there that really helps me, other than making me think it may be a possible relay problem. Is there a simple method to determine which of the two it may be?

Looking at the BrickBoard FAQ there may be more info there:

No mention of any test to work out what's at fault though.
You can always get a 2nd hand relay from somewhere like Braydons to swap with yours as a test. And if not the problem this time, you have a spare!

Thanks Des. Had a look there, but again, unfortunately no answer. I'll have a look at the car again at the weekend. Hopefully by then somebody may have posted an answer! Otherwise it's down to the local indie for the old girl.

Check the actuator in the drivers door.

The system goes:

Keyfob > Reciever in car > Drivers door actuator > All the other door actuators.

Your problem will lie somewhere between the receiver and the drivers door actuator, most likely the actuator. The relay is always worth a check too.
